Family friendly recreational opportunities abound in Union, from our large
riverside park in the heart of the downtown area to picnicking, hiking, and
camping at Catherine Creek State Park.
Our Old West community heritage is alive and well and we invite visitors to join us
in a variety of activities, ranging from the acclaimed permanent cowboy exhibits
at the Union County Museum to the annual (first full week in June) livestock show,
one of longest running national points rodeos in the state of Oregon.
Following a tradition of community support, Buffalo Peak golf course was opened in 2000 on the foothills
of the city limits, providing a scenic setting for 18 holes of full service golf
to the public. Also new in 2000, the Bobcat athletic complex was
opened, providing a full set of amenities and locker rooms surrounded by lighted
fields for softball, soccer, baseball and football.
New in 2003, the community has started planning for an
additional park at the north city limits adjacent to Little Creek.
